Dear Devs, in consideration of players with hearing loss/issues and those interested in avoiding hearing troubles in their future, I would like to request an audio option being equivalent of electronic noise-cancelling hearing protection, e.g. 3M Peltor Tactical XP. It should effectively cut off the loudest sounds (explosions, gunshots - of course not completely, but limiting their noise to acceptable/healthy level) while at the same time allowing the players to hear low ambient noises like footsteps. Actually they usually work by providing good passive protection for all sounds, but at the same time the least noisy ambient sounds are electronically amplified (see: http://www.usacarry.com/select-proper-hearing-protection-for-shooting-to-avoid-permanent-hearing-loss/ ). It is much better solution than passive hearing protection. Today the only option is to reduce the master sound level to acceptable level, but it usually does not allow to hear important low ambient noises like footsteps (just like passive hearing protection). Dear Devs - please give adequate, serious consideration to this serious health protection issue.
EDIT: To be more precise. IMO the range of noise levels is too wide to be considered safe for hearing - as long as one wants to be able to hear at least barely distant footsteps (like 50-100 feet away) the noise level of close-in gunshots and explosions will be deafening and dangerous for hearing, even though the effects will no be immediate but will appear in future. An adult may be wise enough to sacrify advantages gained in result of being able to hear significant, but very subtle noises, but kids and teens might not be wise enough. This noise level range should be reduced, or at least above mentioned audio option should be implemented. The increasing hearing loss/problems with teens is terrifying...
