I know it's early for any news about it, but it's the thing that has me the most excited from the Roadmap.

It is the scripting language that will let modders make Insurgency do funny and strange things Big Grin

I'm a little curious why LUA. I mean, I think it's somewhat easy for people to get into, but I hate LUA and think its VERY messy (or can get that way quickly).

Why not API support for something more mainstream? It may limit modders, but I mean, that means we have people that know how to program in a 'real' language do better things?

Note: Kind of playing devil's advocate. I think the way you WANT to support modding is great, I just wish it wasn't LUA personally. When I modded Minecraft stuff using the Forge API, I had to brush up on Java and KNOW Java to get any real work done. Kind of takes away the crappy/bloated/un-needed stuff in a way and does its own quality control in a way too.

Because Garry's Mod has it ready to go, so forklifting it into Insurgency is a lot of work but very doable. There's also the security implications of stuff like the Python and Javascript interpreters that got bolted onto Source, Lua is a little more restricted to just game content (which is a good thing for clients).

Any word on progress here? We've got a ton of mod makers waiting in the wings to leverage this.
